To take
your UIUC chemistry and foreign language placement exams, you will use your University Identification Number (UIN) as your login and
your last name as your password. Your UIN is a 9-digit number beginning with 65-, 66-, or 67-. If you
don’t know what your UIN is, look on the back of your “Notice of Admission,” a letter which you received
from the Office of Admissions and Records. You may type up to 20 characters of your last name including
hyphens and spaces. However, do
not include any apostrophes or periods when typing your last name.
For example, if your last name is O'Reilly, type "OReilly" without the apostrophe. If your last name is St.
John, type "St John" with no period.
To take your ALEKS
Math exam, you will need to log in through the IStart website. This exam is administered through the Math Department. Please email
advising@math.uiuc.edu if you have questions or problems with the ALEKS Math Placement Exam.
Doesn't work?
Only students who are coming to UIUC take the UIUC Placement Exams. If you have not accepted UIUC's offer
of admission, your login will not work. If you have very recently accepted UIUC's offer of admission, please
allow a couple of days for access to the placement tests to be set up.
