• The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) -- a federal law that governs educational records and protects student privacy.  Letters of reference, posting grades, and discussing student performance are all regulated by FERPA.   Find out how instructors can comply with the law on the FERPA Information and Frequently Asked Questions Page.

• Where To Send Students For Help -- Students will occasionally come to you to discuss problems and issues that are beyond your role as an instructor.  Oftentimes, they are looking for help, but they do not know where to go.  In these situations, students will benefit from your referring them to campus units that can help.  Check out Where To Send Students For Help for a list of campus resources available to deal with common students issues and problems.
